Decided to stop by MY coffee shop, Lola and test out this new Blogsy app for my iPad. Btw, have I told you how I love coffee lately?
Apparently I’m so addicted that this is my third coffee of the day. I need my fix!

It’s Monday.
It’s 7am.
There’s nothing better that I could give you.
I really hope you have a fancy monitor that you can tilt to the side and pour this out of.
Good day.

Today I’d say my love for coffee is stronger than it’s ever been. Even on days when I don’t need or want any stimulants, I still love coffee. Now that Lola Cafe is literally a three minute walk from my living room, I’m sure this is a love affair that will continue until one of us can’t stand the other one. Even then, it will probably be coffee that breaks up with ME.
P.S.: I still want this on a T-Shirt. Or a headband, karate-kid style.

One day, decades from now, I imagine I’ll be sitting around, telling stories to my grandkids about how we all used to queue up in lines in this little storefronts to by 20 ounces of caffeine and sugar and cream for $7 a pop. The kid will think these tales are outlandish because by then caffeine will be illegal and Starbucks will be thought of as a millennium version of the crack-house or opium den. I also think by then coke will be legal again and it’ll all make no sense..

From David Bickford’s blog Phx Rail Food, regarding my new favorite coffee shop (and one that’s conveniently just around the corner from me), Lola Coffee
“Lola Downtown suggests a workspace with its tables and stools of metal and wood while Lola Uptown suggests a living room with its couches and mint green stools facing Central Avenue.”
“a workspace for Danielle Librera, the expert baker who produces scones, cakes, cookies, tarts, and other treats for both Lola locations. The nicest aspect of her work is its restrained sweetness. Everything that needs to be sweet is, but not to an overpowering extent.”
I completely agree with both of these statements. I first went to Lola Uptown on a Saturday while running errands, and while I enjoyed the coffee and the place, I did get a sort of “updated version of Central Perk” vibe. In comparison, the one on Roosevelt is editted down as much as possible. Plus, what can you say about clearly (and cleverly) reused furnishings; talk about sustainable! I’ve already spent several hours reading or writing or brain-storming at the new Lola, and can’t wait to go back.
The only thing I think Bickford forgot to mention was how great the light is at the new Lola. I’ll post some picture soon to prove it.

I love coffee and caffeine, and have no plans to eliminate either one. But sometimes it’s good to have a little bit of knowledge in your pocket. I, however, never would have thought Starbucks > Redbull.
